Lilys Room Tour

Lily's room is pretty much done with its makeover (previous post about her room). I still have some artwork to make/put up and some knickknacks to get but I was done with it came to craftiness this week. I am pretty happy with how it came out. We are horrible about remembering to get before pictures.  As I was ripping down wallpaper I remembered about the picture so I got this one small section of her room photographed to give you an idea of what her nursery looked like.

After removing the wallpaper border-which was easy since Lily had started had started for us-we painted the top half of her room a lighter pink. It reminds me of cotton candy which is perfect for her Sweets themed room.

I then made her a new switch plate cover

I had some icecream soda fabric on hand so I used it to make her a new dust ruffle.

Then I made her this banner which is now hanging over her crib. I hand cut everything! All those stripes or pink and the red scroll detail-everything- but I love the way it came out. The banner replace the letters that were above her window that I had painted the animals on.

The ends of her curtain rods and the pull back holders (not sure what they are called but what is pictured below) had a flower detail.  Kirk cut off for me so I could reuse the rod.  I still need to replace these bottoms one with something.

But on the the rods the flower was replaced by the these cute cupcakes from hobby

We added these wall handing over her new dresser which replaces her horrid changing table.  We now change her on the dresser which we love because her diapers and everything are in the top drawer.  For now I used a pillow case to cover her changing pad until I get one that matches

One of special addition to her room was this table and chair.  We bought this small table to use at our wedding.  Kirk sized it down and built this chair for Lily.  The great thing about building it ourselves was we were able to make it the right height for Lily. I then painted it pink and added the decorative cupcake circle.  In time I would like to add some details to the chair. This rug has been in her room so I am ready to replace it. I want a bigger pink or red rug that is really fluffy and round so I will on that look out for that.

Finally some pictures where you can see most of the room and the hardest project of them all-her curtains. The blue and pink part of the curtains where made of sheet sets I bought on clearance a while back ago for a another sewing project. The cupcake fabric is from my fabric stash.  I thought and thought about the best way to use the fabrics and was nervous about the stripe idea because it would have to line up perfectly and when dealing with so much fabric that is hard. I am really happy with they came out and that the stripes do line up perfectly.

I was going to make her new sheets out of the polkadot fabric but I found a pink sheet that we have never used.  I think this sheets might be moved from the make list to the buy list

On what I have left to do- I need to add artwork to the left of her crib.

I want make some cute signs that say something like Lilys Sweet Shoppe above her doors. In this making of her room Lily grew very fond of our step stool.

I want to add some knickknacks to her book shelf.  This arrangement just isn't working

When trying to get pictures or Lilys room one most move quick because Lilys favorite activity is removing every single book off her shelf and scattering them all over her floor.

So for the budget. I wanted to do all under $40 minus the paint for the top half of the room. This is where I came in.

Cardstock-was used for the banner, light switch and table- $10
Switch plate- .27
Cupcake wall Art-3 for $15
Dust Ruffle-Free!
Curtains-need some additional cupcake fabric-$2.37
Curtain rod-Behind her curtains that I made our blackout curtains for when Lily is napping.  I didn't want to buy a double rod or sew my curtains on to the black out ones but we were able to a smaller rod that is hidden with the nice word for- $4
Chair $6
Curtain rod cupcakes-$4
Frame on dresser-$5

Total $46.64 just a hair over budget!

I am really happy with her room and can't wait to put the final touches of on it. It was a labor of love.
