This posting is a bit bittersweet. This is the last monthly update I will do because next month is the big one. Lily will turn 1. But for today we celebrate Lily turning 11 Months Old.
Over the last month Lily transitioned to eating about 98% finger foods. She has no problem feeding herself but my little thing can eat. She will keep going as long as there is food in front of her. It seems fitting that my lover of food would have developed a word for it. She calls food “Mum”. We think she got that because every time I give her food I say “Mmmm, it yummy”. If I don’t say that she still makes her poop face when I give her something new but the second I say that she will smile and eat away. The result is “Mum”. When Lily sees food (even if its mine or Kirks) she will start kicking her feet, wailing her arms around, yanks her pacifier out and says “Mum” over and over until you feed her.
Cute story, we were at my moms and Lily was on her lap facing her daddy. My mom would start to say “Mum Mum Mum” and move her mouth like she was chewing and Lily would whirl around, get excited and look in my mom’s mouth and say “Mum” back. Poor baby thought she was going to get food.
Another cute story, I was sitting on the ground eating a chip. Lily heard the crunch and darted to me. She got nose to nose with me was saying “mum’ and was trying to put her hand in my mouth to get my chip. Did I mention that Lily loves to eat. It was quite fitting that she is going to be Cookie Monster for Halloween.
Lily is getting more and more mobile. She can stand for about a minute on her own. She has a push toy and is so fast with it. She is so funny because she will make it across the living room with it and reach the wall but instead of trying to turn it or moving on to another toy she will just keep banging it into the wall like maybe just maybe she can make it through the wall.
Some would say Lily has too many toys. Evenso, she loves anything that is not a toy. She discovered the Tupperware cabinet, her diaper pail genie, and many other things that make her knowing the word “No” very necessary. Overall, she is pretty obedient when you tell her no. I say overall because she will stop when you say no but then she will just do it again, look at you and wait for you to say no, then when you do she will stop and the process starts all over again.
Lily has started this funny arm thing. When she sees you still will stick her arm in the air. She isn’t waving you and but just doing her own little shout out.
We expect some new teeth in any day now because Lily has become the official Drool Queen. She is being changed about 3-4 times a day because she get so soaked with drool.
Lily is such a good baby. She behaves when you take her out. She loves to watch people. She is becoming more of a laugher and the strangest things make her laugh hard. When she sticks her hands in the air I will hit it and say “High five” and she thinks that is the funniest thing. The other day she thought me making a gagging noise was hysterical. And let me tell you when she laughs you will do whatever dumb thing that set her off a million times because her laugh is that great.
Here are some pictures taken today. It is getting almost impossible to get pictures of her because she doesn't sit still.
11 months old but not too old to sleep with Mommy.
Happy Birthday Lily!!
